  • As of today we are finishing up with flooding the crossing and doing some excavation work. On the lake there is 7″-10″ of and 10″ inches of ice on the Bostic Creek. Early fishing reports from Lake of the Woods indicate a strong early ice bite with limits of walleye being reported from those who have been out.
  • For those who plan on fishing Lake of the Woods keep in mind, the winter 8 fish limit DOES NOT take effect until Saturday,December 1st and an 8 fish(4 walleye,4 sauger) limit will remain in tact until February 28,2019(When the new regulation changes go into effect). Please stay on the marked trails and always ask around before venturing onto the lake during the ice fishing season.
  • Sweet’s Fishing will begin its 2018-2019 ice fishing season on Thursday December 6,2018. Our lake access will remain closed to public travel until ice conditions improve to allow safe travel on Lake of the Woods. We will have sleeper and day house availability beginning on that date and we look forward to seeing you on Lake of the Woods very soon! 11-19-18 Ice Update

Well folks,Lake of the Woods has frozen over!(well,as far as we can see from shore anyways). We currently dont have an ice reading from the lake as it’s too soon for safe foot travel on it as of this post.

Bostic Bay is froze over as well and we have reports of 4″-7″ of ice on it with spots of 2″ or less toward the Morris Point Gap and the northern fishing is off to a strong start.

We still do not have an ETA as to when ice fishing on Lake of the Woods will begin but barring any significant weather swing it wont be too long now.

As always please use caution when venturing out on early ice. Contact local bait shops or outfitters for the most up to date in ice conditions before venturing out and stay in the marked areas.

We will be updating our ice conditions and fishing reports as soon as new information becomes available. We have several prime early ice and weekend dates available and we look forward to seeing you on Lake of the Woods very soon! Until then stay safe and have a happy and healthy Thanksgiving holiday.

1-16-18 Fishing Report

Fishing on Lake of the Woods remains strong despite the cold weather. Currently, our houses are set up in 32-33 feet of water with a mid-afternoon bite being the prime time of fishing at this time.

Pink, white, orange, gold or blue glow in the dark jigs on a dead stick with a live fat head seem to be the hot ticket right now as well as glow in the dark rattle spoons tipped with a minnow head.

Currently the bite seems to be predominantly saugers with eater walleyes and tulebes mixed in. Believe it or not Lake of the Woods is currently producing a decent night bite of not only pout but a few walleye and saugers being reported as well.

Don’t forget about our mid week specials which began yesterday! Check out the full details on our website at www.sweetsfishing.com! We have mid-week openings available throughout the remainder of the hard water season and select weekend dates remaining in the sleepers. Don’t wait, book your 2018 ice fishing adventure with Sweet’s Fishing on Lake of the Woods today!

12/10/17 Fishing and Ice Report

Lake of the Woods continues to produce great numbers of fish! Our houses are currently located in 18-23′ of water. Pink and red glow in the dark or gold jigging spoons tipped with a frozen shiner or a dead stick with a glow in the dark plain hook using a live minnow seem to be the techniques of choice.

As for ice thickness in the areas we have checked we have found anywhere from 10-13″ of ice. We are currently allowing ATVs,snowmobiles and side by sides out of our access. Please,do not venture outside of the marked areas as the ice conditions still greatly vary.

Sleepers will be pulled out on the lake in the early part of this week and we have openings available! Don’t wait, book your ice fishing adventure with Sweet’s Fishing today!
