Lake of the Woods Fishing Report 1/8/14

Fishing has been pretty consistent this last week.
Most houses are pulling their limits with a lot of nice 17-19 inchers. We have shacks from 26 FOW to 31 FOW.
The classic Lake of The Woods colors of pink and gold have been working with a live minnow at the end of it.

We are looking forward to the change of weather this weekend and our fingers are crossed for another really HOT BITE!

Lake of the Woods Fishing Report 12/23/2013

Good afternoon!

Sweet’s Fishing would like to say Happy Holidays to everyone and hopes that everyone enjoys this week!

Fishing has been excellent with several houses reporting catching 200+ fish over the weekend. Many of the fish are good eater fish with a handful coming in within the slot!

This last week we have had houses in 24-25 feet of water. Today we moved a couple to 26 feet of water. We have about 15-17 inches of solid ice that has been getting thicker and thicker.

Most people have been catching a lot of fish using Pink and Gold jigs which are the common colors on Lake of the Woods.

There isn’t much openings left in January so take a look at your calendar in February and come book a trip before the month fills up and while the fishing is hot!

We look forward to seeing you and good luck, have fun fishing!

Lake of the Woods Fishing Report 12/13/13

The ice season is upon us and fishing is HOT right now. most houses are averaging between 50-150 fish a day. The best depths have been between 22 and 24 feet of water. Your classic LOW gold has been the best color so far.
We have been seeing anywhere between 9.5 to 12 inches of ice were our house are. Spots are filling fast so don’t wait to book your trip! Look forward to seeing you at Sweet’s Fishing this winter to enjoy some of the best hard water fishing around.

Lake of the Woods Fishing Report 1/09/2013

Fishing has been up and down the last week. Last few days have been good, everyone is eating plenty of fish and bringing home their limits.

We are fishing about 9 miles out from the washout in 32 feet of water. Smaller presentations and deadsticks with plain hooks have been producing well over the last few days.

Electronics are key to icing your limit, as we are seeing a lot of suspended fish coming through.

Overall fishing is good, so don’t waste any more time and book your trip while there are still spots available.

Lake of the Woods Fishing Report 6/29/2012

Fishing has been excellent over the past week. We have been catching fish a number of different ways. Anchor and a jig is still putting a ton of fish in the boat. Pulling rigs up north on the Islands, especially Little Oak right now is working well. Guys are even starting to pull downriggers and putting fish in the boat.  If you stay on the South end of the lake, you should try and find about 30-34 FOW and if you head North to the islands find 13-17 FOW. This week has been an excellent week for big fish with multiple slot fish being caught, highlights are two 29 inchers and one 30 incher so far this week. The fishing is HOT and the weather is great, get up to the Walleye capital of the World for some “Lights out” fishing with Steve Sweet!

Lake of the Woods Fishing Report 6/5/2012

Lake of the Woods fishing has been excellent so far, with limits in the boat every trip so far. We have also seen a lot of really nice slot fish coming out of the lake. We have been fishing straight out of Lighthouse Gap, Pine Island, and up north by Knights. All of these spots are producing fish for us, here are the tactics we are using to put them in the boat.
  • Anchor and jigging in 28-30 feet (Steve’s favorite jig is a pink and white combo)
  • Flatlining plugs in 7-15 FOW (Firetiger and Gold have been the best colors)
  • Pulling spinners in 7-15 FOW (Gold spinners with a nighcrawler)
Don’t waste any more time…head up to the Walleye capital of the world and fish with one of the most experienced guides on the lake – Steve Sweet. Enjoy the cabin right on the lake and book a charter trip with Steve to kick back and enjoy catching that Minnesota Gold!
